Hello again folks, John blogging here.
Injury claims, the cowboy outfits who sully the sector.
Whiplash injury motor claims cost the insurance industry £536 million less in 2016 than they did in 2013, yet the insurers continue to blame “out of control” whiplash injuries and a “compensation culture” for the high price of premiums.
Inflated reports from insurers about the “poor strength of British necks” are based on the flimsiest of evidence. In reality, cast iron Government figures from the DWP (with whom every single claim has to be registered) show that the real number of claims made has plummeted by 41 per cent since 2010.
The tiny minority of bogus or inflated claims must be stopped, of course, but genuinely injured, honest people should not be caught in the crossfire.
Infuriating cold calls and texts about potential personal injury claims are exploitative, tasteless, and intrusive. Solicitors are already banned from making cold calls and sending nuisance text messages, and rightly so. But poorly regulated and often completely unqualified claims management companies are not banned from cold calling people to drum up business. It brings the whole sector into disrepute and generates the false and damaging perception that making a compensation claim is easy, even if there is no injury. A complete ban on such cold calling and messaging needs to be enforced.
Reputable injury claims specialist solicitors have always existed (like us), but it can be hard to find us in the mass of cowboy outfits. I have been helping injured people bring proper and justified compensation claims since 1993, long before the “whiplash industry” even existed.
Don’t waste your time with the cowboys or sausage factory firms, call me or my great colleague Rebecca Wood for a free, no obligation chat about any accident that you have had. We will tell you whether you have a promising claim and, if so, how to go about it.
Looking for no win no fee in Leeds, or in fact anywhere, and we can help.
That’s all for now,
John
