Hello again all, John blogging here about a campaign called Rebuilding Shattered Lives, the website for which can be found at;

I have been acting for seriously injured people and their families since 1994 and I set up Ibbotson Brady Solicitors 20 years ago to specialise in helping them sensitively. I and my colleagues in the firm have helped and supported literally thousands of injured people since then, guiding and supporting them through this alien, often worrying and potentially complex process at a time of great vulnerability and concern for them.
I have been a member of my professional association called APIL (the association of personal injury lawyers) for all of that time. APIL are a compassionate and inspirational body and it is they who have come up with this campaign.
The campaign aims to debunk myths about claiming for compensation following an accident or injury by using real stories of injured people and explaining and demystifying the claims process. It calls out the many lies spun about things like a “compensation culture” and it reveals the truth of the intensely human stories behind the false headlines.
The insurance industry, who of course don’t want anyone to make a claim, have sophisticated and very well-funded lobbying and PR. They guilt trip people, allege malingering, fraud, the exaggeration of claim and generally demonise anyone who might be thinking about bringing a legitimate claim. But there are real people and their families behind these stories. Injured and scared people who should not be frightened or leaned upon to stop them claiming.
This campaign gets behind those slurs and tells it as it really is. We are, on the whole, a very honest and stoical nation and we are generally a bit reluctant to claim – which is the opposite of what the insurers would tell you.
In addition to the main website itself, they have also provided a “Reality Check” piece that might surprise you. This can be found at;

Life generally and our work here helping injured people from Leeds, West Yorkshire and often way beyond has continued throughout the pandemic. I’d like to say it has continued completely as normal, but like just about everyone else we have had to be flexible, sensitive and fleet of foot in our work.
Every week I and my colleagues have many free conversations with tentative enquirers who have had a bad experience and been injured, but don’t know what to do about it. I can’t promise that we can help everyone, but we will talk to them helpfully, compassionately and for free. And if we think they have some means of seeking rehabilitation, compensation or other support then we will offer to help them, usually on a no win, no fee basis.
If that sounds like you, give us a free call or click below for a free case evaluation;
That’s all for now, but do have your eyes opened by reading the content on the Rebuilding Shattered Lives website and Reality Check.
Best wishes for now,
John
