We acted for Mrs V in an injury compensation claim arising from a very nasty motorcycle accident in North Yorkshire when she was a pillion passenger.
A car pulled out of a side road from the right, straight into the path of the motorcycle causing a collision and also causing both the rider and Mrs V to fall and then slide along the surface of the road. Both of them were emergency admissions to hospital, one of them was taken by air ambulance.
She suffered very nasty, multiple and long standing injuries, particularly orthopaedically.
A lot of the work that we did in the claim concerned the pursuing of crucial rehabilitation and treatment.
We argued for and Mrs V received early interim payments to help her with her recovery and to enable her to cope financially. We fought very hard in the negotiations over the value of the claim.
The opponents made a first offer to settle her claim of £85,000.00. They made two more improved offers that we rejected, making powerful arguments. They then made a final improved offer of £175,000.00, plus an agreement to fund some further agreed rehabilitation, and on our advice Mrs V and we accepted that.
You can see that we held our nerve so far as the progression of the offers was concerned.
